(4), 114 pp. Educational story of North-American interest by the Dutch minister Hendrik Marinus Christiaan van Oosterzee (1806-1877). The main theme is that being nice and loved by others is better than being rude and bored. The father of the protagonist becomes bankrupt and goes to America to replenish his fortune, leaving his son to the care of his brother to teach and educate the spoiled brat. When the boy has been utterly reformed he and his friends also leave for North-America to make their fortune. There they are attacked by Indians, but they become pioneers and settle down on a farm in the West. The author also edited the popular almanac 'Zeeland', published by the same Middelburg publishers.
