Very rare Almanac for the year 1703 published by Joannes Stichter at Amsterdam compiled by P.R. van Nierop (1683-1709 fl.). The almanac consists of a calendar divided over 32 leaves - the calendar of each month facing a page with a half-page woodcut for that month with a scene with drummers and/ or city watchmen- containing the days of the month indicating the phases of the moon and the days on which, and where in the Netherlands, there will be held cattle-, horse- and leather markets. followed by the water levels and a gardeners almanach.  After the calendar follows the privilege and annual information, like the dates of the official holidays, time-tables for the closing of the city-gates, the departure of postal services and passenger coaches and barges, tariff-lists of seals, etc.

Ad 2: After the calendar follows under a separate title (Anno 1703. Schutters wacht-Almanack ...). This quire of 8 leaves gives the full time-tables and posts for the year 1703 for the sixty companies of the Amsterdam night watchmen.
Ad 3: With prognostication, supposedly by Giovanni Antonio Magini (1555-1617) for the year 1703.
Ad 5. Short historical survey on the Low Countries (especially Holland) from 1600-1703.

Very rare, and good copies.- (Somes staining and foxing; edges of leaves frayed; handcoloured decoration on covers of binding sl. faded).
No copies found recorded.
