Derde en verbeterde Druk. Rotterdam, Reinier Arrenberg, 1780. Small 8vo. Original boards. With engraved title and 4 engravings in text. 120 pp.

Interesting A B and spelling-book, especially composed to teach the children from the noble House of Nassau-Weilburg, founded by Filips III, count of Nassau at Weilburg, one of whose heirs, Adolf, became the founder of the Luxemburg-dynasty in 1890. The A B book indeed was used to educate three generations of children from that noble House, but also was popular in the homes of the Dutch bourgeois families. The engravings show biblical scenes, and are placed at the head of the reading exercises, which are mainly of a religious nature. At the end some grammatical and linguistic problems are discussed, like punctuation, abbrevation, etc. It also contains an educational dialogue between a teacher and his pupil.

Good copy of an exclusive A B book.
