After circumnavigating the globe, and a lot of deep-sea and other investigations in many regions of the oceans, the Challenger returned home in 1876. The voyage was successful and numerous scientific observations in all branches of oceanic research, like physics, chemistry, meteorology, geology, petrology, zoology, botany etc. were recorded. The present work gives an account of the voyage, and a detailed summary in more than 1600 pages of the results, richly illustrated with maps, charts, diagrams and plates, with appendices and indexes. Good copy, with the bookplate of William Bolitho, and ex libris with the initials K.E.K.
