Rare first edition of a scholarly work on British herbs, a.o. on those who could be used against scurvy, to which was added a treatise on various species of the American aloe. Although the title to the second work is dated 1680, both works were originally published together, with the index to both works at the end. Abraham Munting (1626-1683), was born at Groningen, in the North-Eastern part of the Netherlands. He was a physician, and an internationally renowned botanist, an academic professor and director of the Hortus Botanicus at Groningen. The work is beautifully illustrated with flower plants, sometimes in pots. Also an interesting Americanum.
