With moveable plates
[MOVEABLE PLATE BOOK].Toover prentenboek. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (No place, ca. 1865). 4to. Orig. coloured lithographed wrappers. With 8 movable colour-printed lithographed plates, each with 3 folding parts, offering the children a quite different view each time one of these parts is turned, nicely guiding them through the story. (16) pp. Rare movable picture book with continuously changing scenes, illustrating four popular stories, one of Robinson Crusoe, but the three others of 'Mother Goose' fairy tales, namely 'Tom Thumb', 'Little Red Riding-hood', and 'Puss in Boots'. The book is well produced, possibly by P.J. Trap at Leyden. These elaborate picture books allowing the children not only to look at the pictures but also to play with them are very fragile, and consequently very rare. Good copy.- (With autograph inscription, dated 1872).
Not found recorded; cf. KLKL 559 (similar picture book); Coll. Caljé-Van Gulik 335 (idem).
