Madrid, Typis Societatis, 1796. 3 parts in 1 volume. 12mo. Contemporary richly gilt full red morocco, smooth gilt spine divided in 4 compartments of which one with black morocco letterpiece ('Missale Romanum'), the others with fish scale decoration, both covers with rolled floral border surrounding crowned monogram 'Y' on frontcover and crowned monogram 'F' on backcover, g.e., gold thread headband with 18 attached variously coloured silk reading-ribbons. The binding is kept in the original gilt full brown morocco pull-off case, smooth spine divided in 6 compartments decorated with lozenges, small circles and giltlettered 'Missale Romanum', both covers with rolled border around crowned monogram 'L' on one side and crowned monogram 'C' on the other side. 10 full-page engraved illustrations and 2 title-vignettes by Manuel Salvador Carmona after Mariano Salvador de Maella. Very rare edition of the revised Missal following the directives of the Council of Trente, first published in Rome in 1570 by order of pope Pius V (1504-1572) and later approved by Clemens VIII (1536-1605) and Urbanus VIII (1568-1644). The second and third part (both with separate title-pages) deal with the general Spanish religious festive days respectively with the specific religious festive days of Toledo. The final leaf (with caption 'Missa. Feria sexta post octavam córporis christi in festo sanctíssimi cordis Jesu') is not present in the copies listed by Palau.

Fine copy from the Ambrose Swasey Library and Library Fund of the St. Bernards Institute (both in New York), with large bookplate on upper pastedown and stamp on inside of pull-off case.- (Binding a few tiny rubbed spots; case a few minor defects).
