[MINIATURE BOOKS].Bibliothèque en miniature.     Paris, Chez Marcilly, (ca. 1830). 6 vols in slipcase. 24mo. Orig. light blue lithographed wrappers, in contemp. half calf slipcase, spine gilt. With charming vignettes on 6 engraved titles, and 6 full-page engraved plates, one in each volume. Each vol. 24 pp. Beautiful "library" of six children's miniature books in contemporary slipcase. The Paris firm of Marcilly published many of the most beautiful children's books of the period. The collective title "Bibliothèque en Miniature" is found only on the spine of the slipcase which houses six enticing children's books, with the following titles: 1. BERQUIN. Variétés.- Containing moral stories, poetry and anecdotes, and including titles like "L'amour filial mis à l'épreuve", and "Le petit Berger bienfaisant". 2. DÉMOUSTIER. Mythologie.- With stories on the "Birth of Venus", the Graces, Mercury, etc. 3. FLORIAN. Mélanges.- Containing educational poetry, with titles like "Le Chien et le Chat", "L'Aveugle et le Paralytique", etc. 4. LA FONTAINE. Fables.- The fables include "Le Coq et la Perle", "Le Corbeau et le Renard", "Le Rat de Ville et Le Rat des Champs", "Le Veillard et ses Enfants", "L'Ane portant des Reliquez", "L'Oiseau blessé d'une flèche", etc. 5. MILLEVOYE.- Containing poetry and epigrams, including "La Rose", "La Chute des Feuilles", and "Le pauvre Nègre". 6. VOLTAIRE. Poésies.- Including "Sur l'égalité des conditions", "Fragment du Discours sur la vraie Vertu", etc. is the little books is ca. 5 x 7 cm. Fine copies, with small blind bookseller's stamp of J.C. Estor, The Hague, on one front cover.- (Slipcase rubbed and sl. dam.).
