Original 8vo edition of this important work on the coins, pennies and seals of the Utrecht bishops, as well as the origin, manufacture and use of coins in general by the Dutch painter, collector of coins, art dealer and historian Frans van Mieris Jun. (1689-1763), the son of Willem van Mieris (16862-1747) and grandson of Frans van Mieris Sr (1635-1681), both well-known painters of the Dutch Golden Age. Re-issues with a new title appeared in Utrecht in 1744 and in Arnhem in 1752,
In the same year an edition in folio was published by the same publishers (also vol. 6 of Van Heusden's Kerkelijke historie en oudheden der Zeven Vereenigde Provincien.

Good copy with ownership's entries of L. Schaijdherbe (bought from L.R. Huysmans), and the painter Em. Beeckman from Dendermonde (b. 1799; in 1848 given to him by H. van Campenhoudt).- (Some sm. tears in plates, not affecting the illustrations).
