Two first editions of fine produced and nicely illustrated children's books, bound together in a prize-binding.

Ad 1: Rare first edition of an interesting educational novel, written in dialogues, on the theme of how to become a happy person.
Ad 2: One of those popular educational books, containing short stories on the life and deed of important historical characters, here from classical till modern times, to serve  as a sort of mirror for youth. The preface is signed D.J.V., but the identity of the author is still unsolved.

Fine copy of two rare books, in a fine prize-binding, but the prize certificate removed, the offset still dimly visible on one of the first blanks.
Ad 1: Waller 1170 (2nd ed. Deventer, 1832; Cat. Van Rijn 74 (undated Utrecht edition); ad 2: not found recorded.
