(8), 329, (2) pp. First and only edition of this children's historical work by Johannes Florentius Martinet (1729-1795), a minister of the church at Zutphen and an exemplary teacher, and prolific writer of children's books. With this work children gain more knowlegde about the history of the world by means of Question and Answer. This work is derived from his Historie der waereld, Amsterdam, 1780-1788 (9 vols.). He tried succesfully to reconcile the Protestant Christian belief in the Netherlands with the belief in progress and Newtonian Science. Fine copy.
