Very rare offprint of an extract of a work on the Jews of Abyssinia that was never published

Modern paper wrappers. 48 pp. Very rare offprint of an extract of a work by the author that was never published: Histoire des colonies étrangères qui se sont fixées dans l'Abyssinie et dans le Senaar depuis le septième siècle avant Jésus-Christ jusqu'au quatrième siècle de l'ère chrétienne. The extract was originally published in two installments in Nouveau Journal Asiatique, the second half in vol. III, pp. 409-431, the second half, together with the leaflet of the book that was ment to be published, in vol. IV, pp. 51-73. Louis Marcus states that the first Jews could have settled in Abyssinia already in the second half of the 7th century B.C. He descibes their early cultural and political history, and emphasizes the importance of these since the Jewish establishments had a great influence on other parts of Abyssinia and the neighbouring countries, such as the kingdom of Méroé. The work is provided with extensive notes. Good, uncut copy.
