Rare Dutch encyclopedic textbook on the art of conjuring, anonymously published in parts over a number of years. The book presents virtually all that was known and written up to the time about so-called "white magic", describing and explaining hundreds of conjuring tricks, with ropes, knifes, watches, playing cards, etc., including disappearing tricks, mind reading, chemical tricks, number- and word-tricks, secret alphabets, etc. etc. In the preface the author gives 13 basic rules for performing magicians, which he then confesses to have taken from the "Testament de Jerome Sharp", which formed part of "La Magie Blanche Dévoilée" by Henri Decremps, which had also been translated into English in 1785 under the title "The Conjurer Unmasked". So the anonymous Dutch author certainly knew the latest publications  in the field. Many of the elaborate conjuring tricks are clearly  depicted on the fine engraved plates, size of the large folding ones is 26 x 22 cm. Tricks with numbers or letters are depicted  in text.
