Paris, G. Duchange; Jean Bairain, 1710, 1676. 2 works in 1 vol. Folio. Half calf. With engraved frontispiece and 5 (of 6) full-page engraved ornamental plates; engraved frontispiece and 5 full-page engraved plates, depicting divine and human figures, cherubs and several animals within a rich ornamental design. 13 lvs.

Attractive collection of ornamental engravings by Jean Lemoyne (1638-1713). Lemoyne was part of the circles around Bérain. His style was attractive and modern: "...früh in sein Rankenwerk [hatte er] auch die kommende Mode, Linien- und Bandzierat, geschmiegt." (Jessen, p. 212). Both of the present  works by Lemoyne were engraved in the studios of Bérain. The connection of Lemoyne with Bérain is confirmed by his fantastic and decorative grotesques.

Added: Engraved frontispiece with ornamental design of the following work: Picart. Premier des  Magnifiques Carosses de Monseigneur le duc d'Ossuna Ambassadeur Extraordinaire et Premier Plenipotentiaire de Sa Majesté Catholique Philippe: V. pour la Paix. faits Pour l'Entreé Publique de son Excellence. Utrecht, 1713.
