Interesting work on energy-saving heating systems by J.C. Lehmann from Leipzig, professor of medicine and physics. The high wood prices and the large quantities necessary for heating prompted Lehmann to improve the construction of stoves in order to save energy. He calculated that his proposal would reduce the fuel costs with two thirds. The first edition of his work, which appeared in 1735 (see p. 214; and which we were unable to trace), received privileges from such illustrious people as King Friedrich of Prussia, King Christian VI of Denmark, and Friedrich, Duke of Sachsen, which are printed in our copy, together with reviews of the first edition of the book, the earliest of which is dated September 8, 1735.
According to the title-page, this copy is a new edition which appeared in 1754.
