The second work, announced on the title-page of the first, is a very useful dictionnary of more than 4000 technical terms and words related to the profession of a public notary, an important and influential profession in seventeenth century Holland. The author of these books was the well-known lawyer Simon van Leeuwen (1626-1682), most famous for his books Batavia illustrata (1685) and his treatises on the Roman Catholic law in Holland.
