With illustration on engraved title and 11 full-page engraved plates by D. Sluijter after P.H. Oosterhuis, all very beautifully coloured by hand. 29, (1 blank) pp.

Beautifully hand-coloured children's picture book, each plate accompanied by poems. One poem is also devoted to the illustration on title, which shows two small boys giving a poor man a few coins. The beautiful plates further show a girl drawing flowers from nature, a boy building a model of a sailing ship, a girl talking to her parrot, a little boy painting, a boy before his bookcase, a boy at a writing-desk, a boy training his dog to jump through a hoop, a boy checking  his watch, a girl playing the harpsichord, a boy climbing a pole in a popular game, and a street violinist dancing on eggs. Although similar titles were often used for children's books, we could not find the same title of our copy listed in any of the usual children's books collections.
