LANGLÈS, Louis.
Recherches sur la découverte de l'essence de rose.

Paris, de l'imprimerie impériale, An XIII (=1804). 12mo. Contemporary half green morocco, spine gilt. 47, (1 blank) pp.

First edition of a rare work on attar, the oil of roses, by Louis Langlès (1763-1824). The work is flooded with Arabic quotations. Langlès was a well-known and valued orientalist. On pp. 35-47 a bibliography of his works is given.
According to the text on verso of the half-title the work was sold by Firmin Didot and Heinrichs, two Parisian firms. The last page contains the colophon "Imprimé par les soins de J.J. Marcel, Directeur général de l'Imprimerie impériale".

Good copy on thick paper.- (Some faint foxing, last leaf with a few stains).
