Collected edition in four volumes of the works of the playwright and poet Pieter Langendijk (Haarlem 1683 - 1756). Volumes I and II are in second edition and bear no printing year. This excellent edition contains a.o. Herderszangen, Visschers-en stroomzangen, Klinkdichten, Mengeldichten, Punt, snel en knipdichten, Xantippe, Julius Caesar en Kato, Het wederzijds huwelyksbedrog, De wiskonstenaars, Rampen van 't jaar 1720 and his last work Spiegel der Vaderlandsche kooplieden. The latter was completed after his death by two Amsterdam poets who received the unfinished poem from the publisher of this work, J. Bosch. The last 34 pages of the 4th volume are devoted to the live of Pieter Langendijk. Langendijk's comedies were very popular and successful during more than a century.
