New, revised edition of the work on optics by famous French scientist Nicolas-Louis De Lacaille (1713-1762). The work was first published as Leçons élémentaires d'optique in 1750. Later it was several times re-published as Traité d'optique of which the edition of 1802 is the first. The revised edition is augmented especially on the subject of the description of the "development" of images in optical instruments, achromatic spectacles and irises. Lacaille published many works on astronomy, geometrics, mecanics, perspective and optics and was mainly known for his achievements in the field of astronomical science.
