The original Turkish text by the sixteenth century Turkish historian Muhammed ibn Hasanjan, called Saadeddin, which covered the Turkish history up to the year 1550, was brought from Constantinople by Hieronymus Beck in 1551. A German translation was made by Joannes Gautier, or Spiegel, the interpreter of the Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand I, and from this German text Joannes Leunclavius, or Hans Lewenklau (1533-1593), made a Latin translation, and added a second part continuing the history to the year 1588. Leunclavius's Latin edition was the first edition ever published, all earlier texts remaining in manuscript. The Latin edition, the title reading: Annales Sultanorum Othomanidarum, is also the best known and most often found edition. A German edition was published in 1590, the second part continued again to the year 1590. The present Czech translation was made by Jan Kocin (1543-1610), from the German translation of 1590, the title of the second part reading: Kronyky Turcke, Djl druhy. Doplenj Historye Turecke, od Leta Pane 1550, az do Leta 1590.
