(4), 236 pp. Swedish edition of this work on the history and geography of China illustrated with very nice full-page steel-engraved plates. It was translated from the German (China und die Chinesen. Land und Volk. Geschildert nach den besten neuen Arbeiten). Separate chapters are dedicated to the different emperors between 1661 and 1820. Attention is also paid to the Buddha religion in China, several temples are described. Other subjects treated in the present work are economy and religion in general - not only Buddhism. Furthermore it contains information on Chinese vegetation, seatrade commerce, teaplanting, Macao, Nanking, Tien-sin, Canton, Hong Kong, Ning-po, Amoy etc. Good copy.- (Hinges weak, loosening in spine; sm. waterst. in lower margin).
