First and only Dutch edition of this work on the expedition to Borneo of H.M.S. Dido for the suppression of piracy, with extracts from the journal of James Brooke (1803-1868), by the British admiral of the Fleet Sir Henry Keppel (1809-1904). The views among other things depict the H.M.S. Dido at Sarawak, the Rajah Muda Hassum, Brooke's first residence at Sarawak and a nightly attack on a proa, the maps are of the Malaysian archipelago, Sarawak, Patoesan, Labowang, and the rivers Sareboes and Batang-Loepar.
The original English edition appeared in 1846, a second edition was published in the same year.

Spines slighty worn, one plate loose, some waterstaing and the usual age-browning. A good set of this interesting account of Borneo.
Cat. NHSM p. 554; Tiele, Bibl. 592.; not in Gosse.
