Original cloth, with spine of blue cloth and covers of grey cloth with a beautiful lithographed design of a stork above the title and publisher's address printed in blue on front cover. With 36 full-page colour-printed lithographed plates of all kinds of birds and beautiful scenes of bird life. (18) lvs. One of the beautifully designed and lithographed Art Nouveau picture books by Theo van Hoytema (1863-1917), richly illustrating the artist's great love of birds. A great variety of birds is shown, either flying and standing, or singing and picking, and occasionally birds busy with their prey. Depicted are geese, singing birds, fowl, a peacock, owls, birds of prey, storks, and even beautiful pink flamingos. The present was the last of the fine children's picture books produced by Hoytema. Fine copy.
