Original edition of this extensive ecclesiastical history of the Archdiocese of Utrecht by the Dutch historian and Roman Catholic apologist Cornelius Paulus Hoynck van Papendrecht (Dordrecht, 1686-1753, Malines), a Catholic priest, canon and vicar general of the archbishop of Malines. The work, treating the history of the Archdiocese from the Protestant 'Alteration' in 1580 to ca. 1720, was intended as a defense against the Dutch "Oude Bisschoppelijke Clerezy" (Old Catholic church (Jansenists)) which claimed rights. In 1728 this work was translated in Dutch and also published in Malines at the same publisher; later Dutch editions were published in 1738 (also at Malines) and 1740 (H. Besseling, Utrecht).  Hoynck also worked toegther with Foppens on his Bibliotheca Belgica.
