(26), 120, (3) pp. First edition of the collected poetry of the mysterious and adventurous Robert Hennebo (1685-173) who with variable success acted as soldier, barkeeper, real estate agent and dealer in shares. The work is dedicated by the editor to the shade of Robert Hennebo, followed by two prefaces, one of which - a witty and humorous fake - by Hennebo himself, dated 1721. The work is divided into five parts: p. 1-19: 'Rouw-klachten van den heere Jacobus Veenhuizen (=Robert Hennebo), over het droevig afsterven van zijnen goudvink, kanarij, hond, en paard. Alle deezer overleeden in de doodelijke Slagtmaand des jaars 1716'. With a plate on p. 3. The first separate edition had been published in 1723; second edition: 1736. p. 21-47: 'Lof der Jenever, dedicated to the citizens of Cologne, Rhijnberk, Schiedam, Weesp and Amsterdam, or to all 'Jenever-sellers'. With a plate on p, 23. This is the most well-known satirical poem by Hennebo in praise of the Dutch national liquor or firewater 'jenever', written during the time Hennebo was running the pub 'The Gulden Vlies van Jason' near the 'Princen-hof in Amsterdam. It was published separately for the first time in 1716; second edition in 1718. Modern editions appeared in 1964 and 1987. p. 49-72: 'Bruilofts-zangen' (Hymeneals). p. 73-80: Dedications to other works. p. 81-120: Mengel-dichten. Good uncut copy.- (Binding somewhat shaved).
