Covers with outer blind rules around a gilt chain border, gilt inner corner fleurons and gilt oval central medallion. First edition, first issue of this luxurious Elzevier edition and of this important account of the siege and capture of 's-Hertogenbosch in 1629 by Frederik Hendrik of Orange. Fine illustrated with maps and plans. At the end the  terms of the Peace-Treaty for both the bishop of 's-Hertogenbosch, and the commandant of the city, Baron De Grobbendonck. Daniel Heinsius (1580-1656), the well-known professor of poetry and classical literature at Leiden University, most beloved pupil of Scaliger, friend of Grotius, Vossius and Barlaeus, father of Nicolaas Heinsius and the most famous Neo-Latin poet of the Dutch Golden Age.
