First edition of this erotic work by Heinrich Heine with refined lithographs by Jules Pascin (= Julius Pincas) ( 1885-1930). It was published in a limited edition of 310 copies. Pascin was a painter and draughtsman, who studied in Vienna. When he was in Paris he met with Matisse. His drawings are in a delicate roccoco style and his drawing themes tend to the erotic. In 1920 a second edition was published with the lithographs reduced in size.
