(36), 302, (47) pp. First edition of a rare bibliographical work by Nicolas Francis Haym, listing all the rare books printed in Italy from the beginning printing till ca. 1715 in the fields: (1) 'Istoria' (History): Collana Greca,Collana Latina, Istorie del Mundo, di Europa, d'Italia, etc.; (2) 'De'Poeti' (Poets and poetry): Poeti Epici, Poemi giocosi, Poeti Lirici, etc.; (3) 'Prose' (Prose): Prose in generale, Traduzioni dal Greco, e dal Latino, Prose morali, Lettere, Oratori, etc.; (4) 'Arti e scienze (Arts and science): Arte gramatica, e lingua Italiana, Arte oratoria, Arte poetica, Arte storica, Politici, Filosofi volgarizzati e naturali, Pittura e scoltura, Musica, Architetti, Matematici, Antiquari, Simbolici, Teologi, etc. The work is dedicated to Lord Winchilsea (p. (3)-(8))After a letter to the reader (p. (9)-(13)), follow a contents (p. (14)-(16)), the text of the letter of Mons. Giusto Fontanini, the compiler of the Imeriali catalogue, to the Marchese Gian Giuseppe Orsi, dated 30 June 1706 (p. (17)-(29)) and a 'Tavole alfabetica' (p. (31)-(35)). At the end is a 'Tavola' on 44 pp. and 3 pp. with corrections. Two re-editions of the successful bibliography appeared in Venice in 1728 and 1741 before a very enlarged edition in 4to in two volumes was published in Milano in 1771-72, enlarged and corrected by Fed. Giandonati (re-edition: Milan 1803 in 4 vols. in 8vo). Good uncut copy with the addition of 16 sixteenth-century titles of Italian editions on the 19 blank lvs. following the printed text; ms. notes in Italian and French on many of the blank leaves following the text.- (Binding damaged: edges and corners partly gone (repaired)).
