First edition of an important manual for German orthography (illustrated by an engraved plate showing the German letter forms), linguistics and grammar for Dutch students by Hendrik Antonie Hamelberg (1792- 1852), teacher at the Gymnasium at Amersfoort and editor of several literary and linguistic periodicals.
After the title, preface (p. iii-vi, dated Amersfoort, 1 July 1837), Errata (p. vii), and an extensive contents (p. ix-xxxiii), follows the text (p. 1-644). Added is a treatise on the writing of letters, forms of address, style and a few examples (p. 645-650). At the end 6 pages are added on another book published by Thieme: D. Bomhoff's Nouveau disctionnaire Français-Hollandais, together with the text of many laudatory reviews of that work.
