Later half cloth, with original front wrapper including title of the first part mounted, and with all original front wrappers including titles preserved. Rare complete series of a complete course of drawing to be practiced on the slate, much in use at Dutch primary schools at the turn of the 19th century. The slate of course was the cheapest school material imaginable. Not only drawing but also excercises in writing, aritmetic, etc. was done on the slate. After correction by the teacher everything could be wiped off and the slate was ready again for the next school task.
The present drawing course starts with simple linear drawings, gradually advancing towards more difficult geometrical drawings, developing into all kinds of objects from daily life, furniture, etc., and includes detailed studies of the human head, plants, etc., ending with beautiful finished views of animals, farms, boats in the water, etc. The series is uniform but published in two slightly different sizes, 4 issues in the size of 13 x 17,5 cm., and 6 issues in the size of 11 x 17,5 cm.
