Frankfurt, Andrea Wecheli heredes, Claudius Marnius, Joannus Aubrius, 1589. Folio. Nineteenth century half red buckram with gilt calf title-label on spine. Some woodcut initials and ornamental borders. 260 leaves (preceded by an extra bound leaf with later ms. notes).

Rare first edition of work which gives a summary of famous and well-known persons and other names in the history of Rome. With quotation of many classical Latin and Greek writers. Johannes Glandorp (early 16th century-1564) was a German humanist and philologist, who made an extensive study of the classics and of theology. Later he became a rector in Brunswick. The book was edited by Reiner Reineccius, as the book was published after the death of Glandorp.
The text on the pages is divided in 2 columns, which are both numbered. The work has an extra bound in leaf, of blue paper, with several handwritten notes out of different times. The main part gives more information about Marius Cominius, with reference to numbered colum in which he is mentioned. In these notes some years are mentioned, which indicate that the notes can be as early as 1807. Part of these notes are in Latin, part is in German. In red ink is also a later owner's name of Max Wolf, and a black ink name of Gerolt.

Good copy.- (Some ms. notes in margins).
STC German 361.
