Rare early edition of a popular text book on a game of cards, called "Hombre", or "Ombre", here with a supplement giving the latest decisions and rules for the game. The game of Ombre became popular at the turn of the seventeenth century, and gave birth to whist and later to the game of bridge. In the preface to the main part the publisher calls the present the sixth edition and claims that the book is useful for both beginners and advanced players, clearly laid out in small chapters, each explaining and illustrating a specific rule or problem. The privilege for this part is added at the beginning and dated 1708.
The newly added part, explaining the latest decisions taken to solve incidents and difficulties arising when playing the game, has a short privilege at the beginning, dated 1706, and an extensive one added at the end, dated 1711.

Fine copy.
