Beautiful and very attractive copy of the rare Swedish edition of this extensive book on fishes as they can be found in the Scandinavian waters. Although it bears the name of F.A. Smitt on the title, it is the work of 3 eminent Swedish zoologists Fries (1799-1831), Ekstrom (1781-1858) and Sundevall (1801-1875). This work is one of several works they published on the systematics of fish. The first edition of this work was nebver finished because of the sudden death of Fries, but was ultimately revised and completed by Smitt.

Good, clean copy.
Nissen, Fischbücher 56.
