Original and only editions of the description and illustrations of the funeral ceremonies on the occasion of the death of Princess Anna of Hannover, at the time regent for William V, Stadtholder of the Dutch Republic. Princess Anna of Hannover, duchess of Brunswick-Luneburg, was born in on the 2nd of November 1709. She was the eldest daughter of George II August, duke of Brunswick-Luneburg, later King of England as George II, and Wilhelmina Charlotte of Brandenburg-Ansbach. In 1734 Anna married Willem Karel Hendrik Friso, Prince of Orange and Stadtholder of Friesland. When in 1747 her husband became Stadtholder of the Dutch Republic, as Willem IV, the couple moved from Leeuwarden to The Hague. After the death of Willem IV in 1751, she became regent for her three years old son, the later Stadtholder Willem V. Until het death on the 12th of January 1759, she has played a prominent part in the political life of the Republic constantly defending the position of the House of Orange against the republicans, the 'regenten' or 'patriots'.Ad 1: The description and 4 plates of the ceremonial mourning chamber and Princess Anna on her deathbed.
