First Dutch edition of Fielding's very popular "History of the Adventures of Joseph Andrews", first published at London in 1742. On the title-page of the second part is added: "Verrykt met een Brief van een Engelse aen een Franse Dame". In this  letter, put at the end of the work, an English Lady writes to her French lady-friend telling her that she has translated "Joseph Andrews" into the French, and explaining the typical English characters and situations. The book, she states, is  about a lady in love with her servant whom she is tempted to marry but does not, but above all the book depicts the English life and morals of the day just like Cervantes depicted the Spanish morals of his time. The English lady further is sure that Fielding's work will be well received in France as after all they did well receive Richardson's "Pamela" in spite of its careless style and the boring story! Fielding's "Joseph  Andrews", as implied by the title, does in fact presents a fine parody of "Pamela". The engraved plates were newly made after the English originals by I. Hulett.
