Rare Italian translation of a work on the French mission to Siam, Cochin-China, Cambodia and Tongking, originally written in French and published in Paris in 1674 with the title: Relation des missions des evesques françois aux royaumes de Siam, de la Cochinchine, de Camboye & du Tonking (Streit V, nr. 1797, with attribution of the work to Luc Fermanel de Favery). It contains the story of three French bishops who left Paris in 1660-62 to go as missionaries to the Far East, Cochin China and Tonking. One of them died on the journey, but the other two reached their destination. The work is written on the basis of their letters and reports. The first part is on the state of the Christian faith in Siam in 1666-70, and contains descriptions of the island Burbon, Cape Verde, Mosambique, and Surat, the stay of Vachet and Langlois on Madagascar and Surat, etc.; part 2: description of the first voyage of the French missionary Cheureuil to Cochinchina and his return to Siam, and his second journey tegether with Hainques; report on the deputation sent by the Christians in Cochinchina to Mr. De Berito in Siam, etc.;  part 3: description of Cambodia and the missions of Cheureuil; description of Tonking and the state of the missions during the years 1666-70, the arrival of De Berito in Tonking and his stay there, etc.
