Clark after the author's original drawings, 2 full-page black & white etched plates. XII, 188 pp. Large-paper copy of the best edition, with the attractive plates in bright, fresh colouring. Of additional value for its details regarding the Wars of La Vendée. During the Hundred Days, only two years prior to the author's visit, the Vendéans had again risen and contributed in no small way to Napoleon's defeat at Waterloo. Included are notes of the author's tour through Le Perche, Normandy, Bretagne, Poitou, Anjou, Le Bocage, Touraine, Orleanois and the surroundings of Paris. Fine copy.- (As usual some offsetting of plates to opposite page; front hinge weakening; spine and corners rubbed; few pp. with sl. waterstain in upper blank margin).
