Rare original edition of this interesting work on the geography, history and diplomacy of Oregon. The geographical part (pp. 21-52) is, as stated in the preface, largely based on documents of M. Wild. The map is drawn after the most recent ones existing at the time. The historical part (pp. 53-94), focuses on the discovery and exploration of Oregon, and is based on several relations, such as those of Drake, Cook, Lapérouse and Dumont d'Urvilles. The last part, on diplomacy (95-256), deals with the struggle for power from the 16th century on.
