Leyden, Ex Off. Hackiana, 1664. Contemp. marbled calf, spine ribbed and richly gilt, with red title-label, gilt decorated side-edges, blue marbled edges. With fine engraved title-plate showing four men sitting round a table talking, among them Erasmus looking straight at the viewer, with above the printer's bird-device holding the title and below the printer's address. Annotated edition of Erasmus' famous Latin schoolbook with the extensive notes by Cornelis Schrevelius in small print in 2 columns at the bottom of each page, further explaining, in Latin, to Dutch youth the more difficult Latin  expressions. With Erasmus' preface-letter to Froben at Basel, dated 1524, and the Life of Erasmus preceding the "Colloquia", and extensive index at the end. First published by Hackius in 1655 the notes now are corrected and enlarged with new ones. There are two different editions published by Hackius in the same year, 1664, but impossible to tell which one was the first.
