Delft, Leiden, A. Bemans, S. Luchtmans, 1729. Vellum, spine gilt-lined with gilt flower-heads in the compartments, with gilt double-fillet borders on sides and gilt double-fillet inner panel with small gilt ornaments at the four outer-corners and the gilt central coat-of-arms of Hoorn comprising a finely designed unicorn leaning over a shield, red mottled edges, remnants of green ties. With engraved frontispiece showing Erasmus with three other scholars in his study, woodcut printer's device on title, and title printed in red and black. (16), 784, (22) pp.


Fine copy of Erasmus' famous Latin schoolbook in a rare and beautiful Hoorn prize-binding, with manuscript praemium awarded to Nicolas Coster Verloren, signed by A. Monninck, J. van der Does, P.V. Wallendall, and the Rector J. Boutsma, and dated March 30, 1730, as well as with the bookplate of Francis Law Latham.
