Ad 1: First edition of the collected poems by Heiman Dullaert (1636-1684), posthumously published by D. van Hoogstraten with dedication, introduction, and a short biography of the author. Heiman Dullaert was a young man of means and of many talents. Apart from being a fine sensitive poet, he studied in his youth with Rembrandt, and his paintings were reported to be undiscernible from those of his teacher, and he also was a gifted musician. His collected poems consists of devotional poetry, laudatory poems on published books, obituary poetry, and occasional poetry. Many of his poems were written to the music of popular melodies Ad 2: Original edition of this collection of poems consisting a.o. of an epigram and devotional, obituary and occasional poetry such as the celebration of birthdays and weddings by Everhard Kraeyvanger (Makassar 1692- Delft 1752). In this collection of poems Kraeyvangers relation with the Dutch Indies and his great fascination for mathematics cleary shows. The Indian references concern a.o. Chr. van Zwol, who was governor-general of the Dutch Indies and Cornelis Bezuyen, director in Zuratta and ambassador of the VOC to the Great Mogol. Kraevangers fascination for mathematics a.o. becomes visible in the verses to J. Doornik, Pieter Langendijk and H. van de Gaete and the poem 'Wishart' which is dedicated to the mathematics teacher Jan Sikkena (1666-1711). In 1735 this collection of poems was filled up with more recent poems and published under the title Dichtlievende lente en zomer . Kraeyvanger came to Holland when here was 3 years old and later went to study Law at the Leyden university. After his promotion in 1716 he went back to the Duch Indies where he became a fiscal lawyer. Some ten years later he left the Dutch Indies again to go to Delft, where he died in 1752. Fine copy.
