First and only edition of the translation into French of The history of the last parliament, began at Westminster, the tenth day of February, in the twelfth year of the reign of King William, A. Dom. 1700 [= Old Style] (London, 1702), a Tory pamphlet published in the year of King William's death by James Drake (1667-1707), accusing the Whigs of contemplating a new model of government and of systematically traducing the princess, now Queen Anne. The House of Lords had been investigating the report that William  had plotted to secure the succession to the crown for the Elector of Hanover. Drake's pamphlet was noticed in the course of the debate. He confessed the authorship and was summoned before the House, which ordered him to be prosecuted. He was tried and acquitted (DNB)..

Good copy with a great provenance: with the engraved book-plate by E. Vermorcken after A.F. Schoy with the coat-of-arms of the Dukes of Arenberg with their motto 'Christus protector meus', a second engraved book-plate with a 'A' topped with the Duke's hat, and a library label of the 'Althrop' library of Earl Spencer.- (Top of spine sl. damaged).
DNB XV, 446-7.
