Nice work containing six essays on painting and sculpture by the many-sided Italian writer Anton Francesco Doni. The essays are preceded by a list of painters and sculptors he discusses in this book and after the essays some letters to Italian painters, sculptors and other notable persons are recorded. In the extensive index which conludes this work, the varying subjects which are discussed are mentioned. Anton Francesco Doni (ca. 1513-1574) was a well known writer of his time who wrote many works in different genres as prose, poetry, comedy, letters and dialogues on varying subjects. Good copy.
