First edition of both an historical work describing the Ottoman and Egyptian rulers from the founder of the Ottoman empire, Sultan Osman I (1258-1326), to the year 1745 and a collection of Turkish and Arabian tales, gathered, translated and annotated by the French orientalist J.M. Digeon (ca. 1730-1812). Digeon travelled for diplomatic purposes to the Levant and later was appointed secretary interpreter at the ministry of foreign affairs of France. The first volume contains a chronological survey of the Ottoman and Egyptian emperors. In the second volume some Turkish and Arabian tales and extracts of poetry and prose by Turkish and Egyptian writers are recorded.
