Famous lyrical and didactic poem on gardens in a luxurious binding, first published in 1782. Jacques Delille  (1738-1813), was unquestionably the most praised and honoured  French poet in the second half of the 18th century. The subject of the poem, famous gardens from history, literature and from contemporary times, then was a novelty, and the author won great fame with it. The choice of subject no doubt was also influenced by the enormous success Delille had won by his first great didactic poem "Géorgiques".
