The colourful and translated adventures of Robinson Crusoe

Later red half cloth, with the original dark-red cloth cover, containing a large gilt illustration of Robinson, mounted on front cover. With 8 colour-printed lithographed plates, nicely finished by hand. 225 pp. Anonymous Dutch adaptation for children of Defoe's "The Life and Strange Surprising Adventures of Robinson Crusoe", rather closely following the English original, and nicely illustrated with coloured plates. The publisher G. Theodoor Bom was in the second half of the 19th century especially famous for his fine lithographed picture books. Fair copy, from the library of M. Buisman, with his ms. entry on first free endpaper.- (Binding rubbed; sl. stained and thumbed, one plate loose).
