With 2 separate titles, and with musical scores.<BR>

28ste verbeterde druk. Leeuwarden, H. Suringar, 1888. 2 parts in 1 vol. Orig. wrappers. With 2 separate titles, and with musical scores.
96 pp.

One of the latest, completely revised editions of this famous schoolbook, of which several editions were published. It is interesting to note that the Leeuwarden publisher has chosen for Cramer's "Geldersche Trap der Jeugd" instead of for his fellow-citizen Gellier's "Trap der Jeugd". He kept almost the whole of Cramer's title except for the word "Geldersche". Still, the book is almost completely changed, in composition as well as in contents. It is now divided into 2 parts, but the idea of the advancing steps is maintained, the first part with the steps 1 to 5, and the second with the steps 6-12. But the first 3 steps, devoted to the A B and spelling exercises, are so expanded that they almost take up the whole first part. Only one page is given to the 4th step,  national history, and another three pages to the 5th step, giving a list of names from the Bible, and some prayers. In the second  part again most room is given to steps 6 and 7, on Dutch grammar and syntax. Step 8 with 5 pages is devoted to writing, and step 9 with 3 pages to arithmetics. Step 10 presents several forms of poetry and a list of proverbs. Step 11 contains prayers, and the last 12th step is on church-music, with 2 songs set to musical scores. The book is printed in a great variety of lettertypes.

Good copy of a rare and interesting edition.- (Wrappers sl. stained; sl. soiled).
Not in NUC.
