First edition of the French translation by Thomas Nardin. The original Italian edition published in 1585 with many reprints till the end of the 17th century. In 1602 a Latin translation was printed, a German translation in 1589 and and an English one in 1600. It is an extensive work on the history of the Portugese empire. After the dedication and the introduction, a chronological overview of the Portugese kings since 1090 can be found, followed by several poems on amongst others the present translation and its translator. The work is concluded with an alphabetical table of contents. This work has also been ascribed to Juan de Silva, comte de Portalegre.
