XXIII, (1), 543, (1) pp. Extremely rare corrected and augmented edition of this popular commercial guide for use of merchants and traders in the Southern Netherlands. It consists of numerous tables to look up the solutions to all sorts of problems and calculations of prices or measures, of interest or discount, of money exchange or currencies, etc. The privilege (p. (xxiv)) is issued in the name of Maria Teresa (1717-1780), since 1740 Holy Roman Empress, Archduchess of Austria, including the Southern Netherlands, Queen of Hungary, Bohemia, etc. The preface on p. iii-iv, by the publisher J.J.G. de Marcour, 'successeur du Fond de la veuve Vleugaerd', characterizes the book as 'un fidele conducteur qui aide & facilite par ses indications non seulement à acheter, vendre, recevoir ou payer en quantité toutes sortes de monnoyes, réductions, intérêts, revenue, répartitions, & autres cas semblables qui leur peuvent survenir'. On p. v-xxiii is the 'Instruction sur le principal usage de ce livre', with chapters as 'Pour compter par livres de gros', 'Des prix par 100, & par toute autre quantité', 'D'intérêts & d'économie', 'Remboursement de rentes', 'Répartition & compagnie', together with many examples, followed by many tables (pp. 1-543; on p. (544): 'La preuve generale de tout ce qui est contenu en ce livre'. Good copy.- (Some early 19th-century annotations on endpapers, top of spine sl. damaged).
